Polishing & Brushing
HEGO is your destination for stainless steel polishing and brushing. Our fully automatic Timesavers Grindingmaster machine is able to polish stainless steel sheets both one and two sided. We use different types of abrasive bands and a wide range of grains, depending on your wishes. Please find more information below. In addition we are able to brush and duplo polish stainless steel sheets. More about these methods at the bottom of this page.
Our machine is able to polish sheets in a wide range of sizes. The width range of the machine is 50 centimeters to 2 meters and a length range of 50 centimers to 6 meters.
Abrasive belts for polishing
We use aluminium oxide abrasive belts (linen and paper) and silicon (silicon carbide) abrasive belts in several grains. With the linen aluminium oxide belts (Hermesit RB 535 X) we polish in grains 60, 80, 120, 180, 240, 280 and 320. With the paper aluminium oxide belts (Hermes BW 116) we polish materials in grains 120, 180 en 400. We use silicon belts (Hermesit RB 545 X) in grains 240, 320, 400 and 600.
Which type of abrasive belt do I need for different types of sheets and applications?
The abrasive belt type to be used depends on the material type and the desired finish. Below you can find a short explanation per type of abrasive belt including specifics and end results.
Aluminium oxide abrasive belts (linen)
Aluminium oxide is perfect for the polishing of material with a high tensile strength. An aluminium oxide abrasive belt is mostly used for strong material. With these belts we polish stainless steel material with a thickness of 1mm to 5mm.
– Grains 60, 80, 120, 180, 240, 280 and 320
– Hermesit RB 535 X
Paper Aluminium oxide abrasive belts
Paper abrasive belts are especially suitable for polishing thin stainless steel sheets, with a thickness of 0.6mm to 1 mm.
– Grains 120, 180 and 400
– Hermes BW116
Silicon abrasive belts (linen)
Silicon is especially used for polishing under light pressure. Material which has been polished with a silicon belt has a shiny finish. Suitable for polishing of sheets with thicknesses ranging from 1mm to 5mm.
– Grains 240, 320, 400 and 600
– Hermesit RB 545 X
Which grain do I choose?
The grain of an abrasive is indicated with a number, where a high number indicates a fine grain. Low numbers are for coarse grains.
The number of grain comes from the sieving of the material. The grain is determined by the number of holes per inch of the sieve, that is used for sorting the grains.
For the stainless steel polishing, grains can be grouped as follows:
– Grain 60 – 120: Coarse
– Grain 180 – 320: Average
– Grain 400 – 600: Fine
Stainless Steel Brushing and Duplo Polishing
In addition to regular stainless steel polishing, we are also able to brush and duplo polish stainless steel sheets.
Stainless Steel Brushing
HEGO is also your expert in brushing stainless steel. The same Timesavers Grindingmaster machine has the ability to polish stainless steel sheet with great ease.
Besides regular polishing, we also offer duplo polishing. This is a combination of polishing and brushing. It is widely used for industries where hygiene is very important, because duplo polished surfaces are easy to keep clean. Especially suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms, ship interiors and elevators.
